Upwork.com charges freelancers a 10% freelancer service fee on all earnings, including bonuses, for most contracts. This fee applies to both hourly and fixed-price projects. However, there are some exceptions:

• Direct Contracts: Freelancers pay a 5% freelancer service fee if they initiate each contract through the Direct Contracts page.
• Enterprise Clients: Freelancers working with Enterprise clients pay a 10% freelancer service fee.
• BYO Contracts: Freelancers with BYO (Bring Your Own) contracts that include a service fee pay 10% of their earnings.

Additionally, there is a one-time $4.95 per contract initiation fee for contracts starting on or after April 26, 2023, unless the client is in the US and pays using a checking account, in which case the fee is $3%.
